A critical vulnerability has been identified in the default configuration of the Human Ear (all versions). When a crafted spiral calcium-carbonate payload (a "shell") is placed in proximity to the auditory canal, an unauthenticated remote attacker — the sea — is able to achieve arbitrary ocean execution in the listener's brain.
Exploitation is trivial, has been observed on beaches worldwide, and is primarily performed by children and people on holiday. Successful exploitation results in relaxation, nostalgia and, in some cases, the purchase of an overpriced coastal cottage.
* User interaction is technically required: the victim must pick up the shell. Researchers argue this is "basically zero-click if you've ever been near a gift shop".
The vulnerability stems from the shell's internal cavity acting as a Helmholtz resonator, which amplifies ambient environmental noise at its resonant frequencies. The Human Ear performs no validation on the provenance of this input and passes it straight to the user's limbic system, where it is deserialised as "the sea".

No vendor patch is available. Evolution has acknowledged the report and assigned it a target fix window of "a few million years". In the interim, the following compensating controls are recommended:
No. It's your own surroundings, filtered through a resonant cavity. The page you're on is doing exactly the same thing with synthesised noise, which arguably makes this the most technically accurate vulnerability disclosure of the year.
Yes. Initial access has been observed in every coastal region on Earth. Attribution is ongoing, though analysts assess with moderate confidence that the threat actor is "a wave".
Obviously. It's a vulnerability. It needs a logo, a name and a website before anyone will patch it.
Everyone, independently, around the age of four.
